What are your barriers to exercise? We all have reasons for not going to run this morning, taking a walk at lunchtime or go to the gym after work, even if we feel motivated to exercise and were otherwise prepared mind. Of course, people these days are very busy, and sometimes even the most dedicated fitness fanatics have to miss a workout. However, what at first may seem a related program, related to the busy life, or otherwise beyond their control-barrier to the exercise may actually be mostly psychological. That's right - I'm saying it's all in your head.
It seems simple: just want it bad enough. By giving priority to health and fitness in your life, you will find a way to make the routine. Unfortunately, not prioritize things just because someone tells us. This is not something that others can instill in us, and is a major point of frustration for many fitness professionals trying to get their customers to be more active. You must work to find their own answers to "Why do you want to stay in shape?" and "Why is health important to you?" Think about what it means to health and wellness into their daily lives and their future, and start working on getting rid of any obstacles you may have to eat right and exercise.
Like everyone else, face obstacles to be constantly active on a daily basis. Time management is great: I was a full-time students graduate while working 3 jobs and still managed to have a healthy diet and train 6 days a week.
Think you have barriers to work out? Here is mine.
I have a potentially fatal condition called food-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis. This prevents me from training after having eaten anything for 8 hours, if a food causes a severe allergic reaction when combined with exercise. We are talking about the injection of epinephrine to the type of section of hospitalization, an allergic reaction here. I deal with severe seasonal allergies and asthma for 5 months of the year to limit my activities and I left almost unable to get up almost every morning, as well as allergy shots in the last 3 years, after which I can not train - again due to risk of anaphylaxis.
It also has serious food allergies connection with the exercise, including fruits and tree nuts. Eat a 100% plant based diet, this means we need to think carefully about the sources of healthy fats, and I have to cook all my fruit before eating.
Add these factors to the usual problems of balancing work, time with family and friends and personal time, and I have a lot of excuses for not exercising!
Because health and fitness are my priorities, however, I have created a system that works for me. I can schedule my workouts at the beginning of each week, not just to balance swimming, running, yoga and weight training, but to ensure that they can exercise in the morning (before eating nothing but oatmeal, I know is a safe place "" food), which often involve getting up at 5 am.
I am a big fan of making the list. Before entering my first triathlon 2 years ago, I wrote a list of all the barriers felt I had to overcome in order to constantly train and compete in the race. Why not do the same with your fitness goal? I came up with 14 items in my list of barriers, possible solutions for each, and a few months later had a blast at my first race.
