I’ve already mentioned my dissatisfaction with the news that longtime host Heidi Klum will not be a part of the new Lifetime series, Project Runway All Stars. However, after today’s casting announcement, I can say that the blow is officially softened. But just a little.
Scheduled to return are: Kara Janx, Jerell Scott, Kenley Collins, Elisa Jimenez, Gordana Gehlhausen, Austin Scarlett, “Sweet P" Vaughn, Mondo Guerra, Anthony Williams, Michael Costello, Mila Hermanovski, Rami Kashou and April Johnston. Can we just quit now and give Mondo the prize he so rightfully deserved last season?
In case you’re curious, supermodel Angela Lindvall will be taking over for Heidi, and I might have been wrong about that leg comment. It seems like they could find an equally leggy sex bomb to host after all. Take a look here. My bad.
The prizes are big in this one, with the winner getting an exclusive boutique at Neiman Marcus, a Marie Claire spread, a technology suite/office space worth $100,000 and an addition 100k in cash. Not too shabby.
The repulsively annoying Isaac Mizrahi will be judging alongside Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman, which would piss me off if I didn’t already find Michael Kors so annoying in the first place. The truly tragic news is that Tim Gunn will not serve as mentor; that role is going to Marie Claire’s editor-in-chief Joanna Coles. Sigh.
Even with that awesome cast of designers (Did I mention Mondo? Mondo!), having both Heidi and Tim out of the picture will truly be a challenge. Coles and Lindvall have some very big stilettos to fill.
