Girls Aloud singer and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole has achieved double chart success with her debut solo single and album both reaching number one.
Her song Fight For This Love held onto the lead in the singles chart for a second week and remains the fastest-selling track of the year so far.
Now her debut album 3 Words has entered the chart in the top spot, beating This Is It, the new Michael Jackson release.
The Official UK Charts Company said it was a “fabulous achievement” for Cole.
Spokesman Martin Talbot said: “3 Words now looks set to be one of the biggest albums of this coming Christmas.”
Cole held onto number one in the singles chart despite new entries from Westlife – who reached number two with What About Now – and Jay Sean.
To reach the top of the album chart she knocked off last year’s X Factor winner Alexandra Burke.
This Is It, the soundtrack to the new film about Jackson’s final concert series, was a new entry at number three.
