New york VS Hollywood

check out promo shots for New York Goes to Hollywood, the new half-hour candid reality show premiering Aug. 4 at 10/9c on VH1. The show charts the quest for fame of VH1’s reality H.B.I.C. And as you can see, New York is seriously getting into her role as an ingénue, as she wears many hats wigs and hams it up for the camera. She even found time to mug for the camera on her home turf. Is there life beyond reality TV for New York? Who knows, but certainly, she’ll need a reality show to find the answer.

What the ----? Does anyone out there get placentophagy?? I sure don't!

It's been many, many moons ago since I first posted on placentophagy, and oddly enough, I'm still getting comments on that original post. And I'm still completely bewildered. I simply just don't get how a person can eat a body part. And I know there are those out there who firmly believe that the placenta has hormonal nourishing properties, and that the hormones produced by the placenta during gestation are actually still "living" after the birth (yeah, right), and that they will magically stave off Postpartum Depression, ... but I gotta tell ya that it just doesn't make sense scientifically, and represents, quite honestly, that "magic pill" that so many women are searching for when it comes to PPD. I'm sorry, but there's no magic pill cure. And certainly not in your placenta.

So I just got a comment on my placentophagy post from a husband in the UK who actually has a video showing him cooking up and eating his wife's placenta. And he actually looks and sounds like a normal guy. Go figure. You've got to check it out at the above link. But don't expect to be hungry for a long while afterwards....

The Olsen Showdown

Hills star Spencer Pratt is flattered that Mary-Kate Olsen commented about his temper to David Letterman Thursday.

"I don't really get why she'd use my name to get press for her little indie film that no one's going to see," he told Usmagazine.com Friday. "She should probably focus more on not getting dressed in the dark than on me."

While promoting her indie film The Wackness, Olsen told Letterman that Pratt played soccer at her high school and "he does not have a good temper. He would walk off the field." (Watch here.)

But Pratt told Us that Olsen went to Campbell Hall in North Hollywood while he attended Crossroads School in Santa Monica.

"I know I've made it in Hollywood when a famous troll is talking about me on Letterman," Pratt told Us.

"I forgive her, though," he added. "She's had to go through life as the less cute twin, which must be tough."

XTINA ROCKS IT

Christina Aguilera paid Larry King a visit to talk about voting last night. Larry King didn't seem to know who she was exactly, seeing as he referred to her as a "soft singer". Isn't she known for her yowling vocal acrobatics?

Kissing Girls

Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" took the top spot on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart this week. Wasn't this already a song? How dare she rip off Jill Sobule! Jill had Fabio in HER video!

Perry knocked off Coldplay's (reportedly plagarized) "Vida La Vida" off the top spot. And her debut album, One of the Boys, clocked in at #9 on the album charts.

It just goes to show ya that one song can totally change your life. This chick was even on the Young & the Restess recently. Christ, I shouldn't know that.

Here's Jill Sobule's arch enemy at Z100's Zootopia 2008, which I suspect is one of those crass radio station deals. You gotta pay your dues.

Fashion Speaks

Undeterred by the critics of her music (and an accompanying music video), Heidi Montag is determined to be a pop star — even if she has to start her own record label.

“Heidi has started her own record label with Super Producer RedONE,” a source tells PEOPLE. “RedOne will write and produce with Heidi an entire album of 13 songs.”

MEL B has found a new friend in socialite Paris Hilton.

The unlikely pair were spotted partying together at a Swedish Midsummer Night Party in New York.

But it seems the night wasn't that much of a success as Mel B was spotted leaving LAX in a wheelchair today.

It's currently unclear why the singer is unwell but helping her along was her film producer husband Stephen Belafonte.

The mum-of-two is currently the face of lingerie range Ultimo and is presenting a comical US TV show.

As the Hogan Turns

TMZ has obtained audio of Linda Hogan's 911 call made on May 22, claiming that she saw her soon-to-be ex-husband outside her home, despite having a court order in place that allegedly prevented him from legally doing so.

After seeing her husband driving toward her house, Linda took it upon herself to start trailing him. At one point during the phone call, the operator instructed the cradle-robbing tanorexic to stop driving after her husband, who she claims has threatened her life in the past.

Katherine Stone starts bookstore challenge!

My friend and fellow PPD health advocate Katherine Stone has started a bookstore challenge in response to the dearth of books on PPD in many bookstores. It's not that there aren't plenty of wonderful books and other resources on postpartum depression, it's that many bookstores don't feel that it's an important enough topic to devote a space on a shelf too. Sad but true. So Katherine has started a running list of bookstores that have failed big time to carry books on PPD. Please feel free to join her in her quest to educate booksellers on the importance of this topic.

Mario also demanded that Nick's character cover up his tank top with a frumpy ass hoodie.

The bitch fight didn't stop there. The extra gay panty company, 2(x)ist, originally wanted Mario to star in a new ad campaign, but quickly changed their minds when they saw Nick. A source told Page Six that they were about to offer Mario a contract when they saw Nick. They went with Nick because "he's younger, sexy, more interesting." Nothing is more interesting than AC Slater!

One of the HBICs of 2(x)ist said, "Nick's very masculine, sexy, modern. It's totally all about his body. Mario is a good-looking guy, but Nick had it. He's up and coming, the new face of sexy. He's original. He's hot."

Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole is set to replace Sharon Osbourne on Britain's X Factor reality competish show, according to new reports.

Spice Girl Mel B. was supposedly offered the job first, but due to undisclosed reasons talks broke down yesterday.

Cheryl hot and we love her, but we're not sure that she'll have the wit and humor of Sharon.

Cole, however, does have the experience to offer the X Factor contestants sage advice, as she lives through a similar experience. Girls Aloud were formed on the now defunct Popstars: the Rivals show.
